Meeting Objectives

Corner Brook Port Corporation is interested in forming relationships with companies looking to ship goods into Western Newfoundland for both project cargo and containerized cargo. With a weekly service, primarily carrying export cargo, the MSC service offers opportunity for containerized import and export cargo to/from Corner Brook and the region. Our stevedoring partner is well versed in handling non-containerized and breakbulk cargo. As the province plays a key role in the global energy transition, the port is planning an expansion project to ensure it has the required infrastructure to meet the requirements of wind, hydrogen and green energy proponents. We are interested in learning about sustainable development, electrification, green technology and best practices in port development. The port is interested in meeting with companies looking for manufacturing and warehousing facilities with deep sea access, and close proximity to the Arctic.

Organization Profile

The Port of Corner Brook is a sheltered, deep water port located in Western Newfoundland. With heavy lift and container handling capacity the port is well positioned for shipping to and from destinations in North America including the St. Lawrence Seaway, Atlantic Canada, the Eastern seaboard of the United States and the Arctic. Corner Brook is the first major year-round shipping port on the routing from North to South in Eastern North America. As the largest community in Western Newfoundland, Corner Brook is the regional service and business centre. Accessible year round, the waters of the Bay of Islands are extremely deep with a 90 metre (300 ft) channel to gulf depth and a minimum dockside water depth of 10 metres (30 ft). The Port of Corner Brook is fully certified under International Ship and Port Facilities Security Code (ISPS) regulations and a nearby Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) office provides customs clearing and authorized embarkation and disembarkation of passengers and crew of all types of vessels.
The Canada Gulf Bridge Service operated by MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) offers a weekly international container service into the Port of Corner Brook with Freeport, Grand Bahama serving as the major hub for worldwide trans-shipment of containers. Logistec Stevedoring Inc. provides stevedoring services at the port’s large, multi-use dock, with clients in the oil and gas, pulp and paper, fisheries, natural resource and energy industries using this location as a gateway to project sites throughout the island.
